This study is a study on the effects of middle-aged women¡¯s participation motives in Qigong on aging anxiety and self-identity. To this end, multiple regression analysis was conducted using the results of a survey of 187 middle-aged women who practiced Qigong in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that only the activity-oriented factor of participation motives of middle-aged women had a significant negative effect on their aging anxiety. Second, only the activity-oriented factor of the middle-aged women¡¯s participation motives was found to have a significant positive effect on their self-identity. On the other hand, it was found that learning-oriented and goal-oriented factors, the sub-factors of participation motives, did not significantly affect aging anxiety and self-identity. This means that the higher the level of activity-oriented factor, a sub-factor of middle-aged women's participation motives, the lower the aging anxiety level and the higher the level of self-identity. This suggests that efforts to promote activity orientation of middle-aged women's in Qigong program are needed so as to alleviate their aging anxiety and enhance their self-identity.
